Eadweard Muybridge (1830 - 1904), originally a landscape and architectural photographer, is best known for his groundbreaking images of animals and people in motion. His work is unique as a first-of-its-kind scientific study that used photography in a new way. Viewed in a Zoopraxiscope machine, his images laid the foundation for motion pictures and contemporary cinematography.
