Mobile Crime Lab, Detroit, 1930s

A Detroit police officer poses with a portable forensic crime photography kit. This photograph came from the Detroit police department and was used to promote the effectiveness and modernity of the crime unit. Founded in 1865, the Detroit police department is the largest law enforcement organization in Michigan and was the first in the nation to use police dispatch radio in 1921.
