Bar Covered in WWI Headlines, United States, 1916

The photograph documents the American interest and fascination with the war raging in Europe. It wasn’t until 1917 that US troops were deployed on the continent. Likely owned by German Americans, this bar prominently displays images of Kaiser Wilhelm II and his family. The walls are covered with hundreds of newspaper headlines from the Great War.

This image is comprised of two photographs placed together to present one seamless picture. It is on a cardboard mount, which is now slightly curved.
